Create New Message

Kareo provides a messaging system that enables users within a practice to easily and securely send messages to one another, and to receive and reply to Patient Portal messages. This includes messaging between Kareo Clinical (EHR), Kareo Billing, and mobile applications. The messaging system allows you to reference patients and add documents. You can also choose to be notified via email every time you are messaged.

For Kareo Engage subscribers, access the Message Center to create new messages.

Create New Message

You can access messages from the top right of every window except when working in a Note. Messages to patients cannot be initiated from within the messaging system, but you can receive and reply to messages originated by patients through the Patient Portal.

  1. Click the envelope icon. The messaging summary window opens.
  2. Click New Message. The New Message pop-up window opens.

Compose New Message

  1. Begin typing a the staff member's name and select it when displayed. 
  2. If desired, reference a patient. Begin typing the patient's name and select it when displayed. 
  3. If desired, click Document to browse and attach an image or document (not to exceed 10MB).
  4. Enter the Subject of the message.
  5. Enter a message in the Body field.
  6. Click Send when finished.
