Respond to Duplicate Drug Warning

When creating a prescription, if the drug name you entered is an exact match to a drug that is already on the patient's Active Medications list, a warning appears.

Respond to Duplicate Drug Warning

  1. Choose one of the three options in the Warning window:
  1. Continue prescribing the medication and discontinue the existing medication(s) from the active medication list: Moves the existing active medication to the patient's Inactive Medications list and allows you to continue prescribing the medication.
  2. Continue prescribing the medication for dual therapy: Keeps the existing medication on the patient's Active Medications list and allows you to continue prescribing the medication.
  3. Prescribe a different medication: Clears the drug you entered in the Drug field so you can begin again.

2.  Click OK.
