Redundant Meaningful Use Measures

In an effort to align providers on one Stage, CMS removed measures that have become either “topped-out” or “redundant.”  The removal of these measures provides a foundation to reduce the EPs’ reporting burden and align with the overall goals of Stage 3.

Eligible Professionals, however, should continue to collect all information that was contained in these redundant measures, because much of the information is required to meet clinical quality objectives.  For example, smoking status needs to be captured so that the EP can meet the requirements of CQM 138: Tobacco Use Screening and Cessation Intervention.
