Insurance Type Code Missing

Rejection Details

This rejection indicates the Insurance Type is required when submitting secondary claims to Medicare because it specifies why the insured has Medicare as a secondary payer.


Follow the steps below to enter the insurance type code:

  1. Click Encounters > Track Claim Status. The Find Claim window opens.
  2. Look for and double click the appropriate claim to open. The Edit Claim window opens.
  3. Double click on the Case name. The Edit Case window opens.
  4. Double click on the appropriate Medicare Insurance policy listed as the secondary payer. The Insurance Policy window opens.
  5. Click the drop-down arrow and select the Insurance Type.
  6. Click Save at the bottom of each relevant window until it is no longer available. Then, rebill and resubmit all affected claims when ready.
