Create Auto Insurance Case

An auto insurance case can be created for a patient once the insurance company and plan have been added to your account. 

Create an Auto Insurance Case

  1. Click Patients on the top menu and select Find Patients. The Find Patient window opens.

  1. Enter the patient's first or last name in the Look For field.
  2. Click Find Now. Possible patient matches display.
  3. Double click on the patient's name. The Edit Patient window opens to the General tab information.

  1. Click the Cases tab at the top of the window. The patient's case list opens.
  2. Click Add on the right of the window. The New Case window opens.

  1. Enter "Auto" and the date of the case in the Name field.
  2. Choose  Auto Insurance from the Payer Scenario drop-down menu. 
  3. Delete any existing insurance policies. Click on the policy to select it, then click Remove. A confirmation pop-up window opens. Click Yes to confirm and delete the policy from the case.
  4. Click Add to add the workers' comp case insurance policy. The Select Insurance Plan window opens.

  1. Click on the auto insurance plan to select it.
  2. Click OK at the bottom of the window. The New Insurance Policy window opens.
    Note: If the plan does not display in the list, click New at the bottom of the window to add a new insurance plan.

  1. Enter the auto case/claim number assigned by the insurance company in the Policy field.
  2. Click Save at the bottom. The New Case window re-opens.

  1. Click the Condition tab at the top of the window.
  2. Check the "Auto accident?" box. 
  3. Select the state where the accident occurred from the State drop-down menu.
  4. Click the Date Type drop-down and select Accident Date.
  5. Click the Start Date drop-down and select the date that the accident occurred.
    Note: A future date cannot be entered.
  6. Tab once and click Add. Accident Date and the start date display in the table below.
  7. Click Save. The Edit Patient window opens and the new case displays in the list.

  1. Click Save. The case is added to the patient record. The Edit Patient Record window closes and the Find Patient window reopens.
