Drug information such as the National Drug Code (NDC) number, unit count (UC), and unit of measure (UM) can be entered in the procedure code record or directly in the encounter at the service line level for claims billing purposes.

Enter Drug Information in the Procedure

Additional drug information related to the NDC number such as the unit of measure and unit count can be entered in the appropriate fields of the procedure code record.
Note: When submitting claims for these procedures, contact the payer to verify the required drug information to prevent rejections.

  1. Create or edit a procedure. The New Procedure or Edit Procedure window opens.
  2. Under the Drug Information section:
    • Enter the Drug Name.
    • Enter the 11-digit NDC Number (excluding hyphens).
    • Click the drop-down arrow and select the appropriate Unit of measure.
Note: The MCG and MG qualifiers are only accepted on paper claims.
    • Enter the Unit count.
