ID Tech Card Reader End of Support FAQs

The Kareo Payments team diligently works on improving the patient collection workflow to maximize your patient payments. Due to upcoming product enhancements, we have made the decision to end support for the ID Tech card readers. Effective July 22, 2021, the MiniMag II MagStripe and iMag Pro 2 Mobile magnetic card readers are no longer compatible with Kareo due to continuing updates to our security features.

What is happening? Due to continuing product enhancements and updates to our security features, ID Tech card readers are no longer compatible with Kareo.
When is this happening? Effective July 22, 2021, Kareo has ended support for the ID Tech card readers.
Which ID Tech card readers will no longer be supported by Kareo? The following ID Tech card readers are no longer compatible with Kareo.
What does Kareo mean by "end of support"? Effective July 22, 2021, the MiniMag II MagStripe and iMag Pro 2 Mobile card readers are no longer usable due to Kareo Patient Collect product enhancements. Use of these card readers will not populate the payment card details when collecting a payment in the Kareo Desktop Application (PM), Platform, and Mobile App.
What does this mean if I use these ID Tech card readers? Effective July 22, 2021, the MiniMag II MagStripe and iMag Pro 2 Mobile card readers will not populate the payment card details when collecting a payment in the Kareo Desktop Application (PM), Platform, and Mobile App.

You will need to enter the payment card details manually or upgrade to the WisePOS E card reader for use with the Stripe terminal:
What happens if I try to use these ID Tech card readers? After July 22, 2021, the MiniMag II MagStripe and iMag Pro 2 Mobile card readers will not populate the payment card details when collecting a payment in the Kareo Desktop Application (PM), Platform, and Mobile App. The payment card details will need to be manually entered in the collect payment fields.

How can I accept in-person payments before upgrading to the WisePOS E card reader? You can easily accept in-person payments by manually entering payment card details and saving the card on file. Saving a card on file allows you to use this same card again without the need to swipe, tap, or insert the card.
